Clubs
The 4-H Club is an informal, educational youth opportunity, which serves as a "hands-on" laboratory for helping youth grow in any or all of the following ways.
Types of Clubs
Neighborhood 4-H Clubs
Groups of Youth (5 or more) ages 5-19 with two adults (at least age 21) volunteer leaders. The group usually has similar interests and many times members reside in the same area or attend the same school. Clubs may restrict membership based on geographic location (due to the difficulty in communicating with members and parents);age (due to differing needs of youth at different ages);and size (due to limited amount of volunteers and other resources). Clubs meet at various times and locations based on the needs and interests of their members.
4-H School Clubs / After School 4-H Clubs
4-H Curricula is utilized within the classroom during regular school hours or in an after-school program outside of regular school hours. The group of youth who participate on a regular basis is considered to be a 4-H club. The classroom teacher and / or other resource people who teach the subject matter serve as club leaders
Sponsored 4-H Clubs
A government agency, religious group or other youth-serving organization may sponsor a 4-H club. Sponsored clubs usually meet at the agency’s facilities and are led by agency staff (paid and / or volunteer).
The Clubs
4-H Friends
The 4-H Friends 4-H Club was started in 1980 with 8 girls and today is set membership of 6 teenagers. Leadership has passed to former members of the club who still maintain the high standards in project work, learning, and having FUN. Working as youth -adult partners is what makes working project areas of home environment, food & nutrition, woodworking, photography or what ever new interest the members have successful. Field trips and active participation on county and district levels all contribute to there being a well rounded 4-H experience. Annual participation at the 4-H Dairy Bar, bell-ringing for the Salvation Army, the Seneca County Fair and Fashion Focus (now changes to 4-H Expo) are always looked forward to events.
4-H Tie Dye Dreamers
The Tie Dye Dreamers are a busy club with sewing, crafts, cooking and outdoor activities. This group enjoys spending time with each other and participating in county events such as Produced in New York State, Fun Time Saturday, the Fashion Revue and the annual Seneca County Fair
ARC Clovers
The Rising Stars
Crafty Clever Clover Kids
The Clever Crafty Clover Kids are a club of young boys and girls who enjoy doing crafts, food projects, a little sewing and community service projects.
Seneca County 4-H Teen Ambassadors
The Seneca County 4-H Teen Ambassadors are a select group of teens who are active in 4-H in Seneca County. They participate in promoting the fun and learning opportunities that can be found. The Ambassadors can be found assisting with registration at county wide functions, teaching a project to cloverbuds, and at "action booths" and doing special projects that crop up from time to time. Public Presentations at county, district and state levels are much anticipated yearly events they assist with as well as the 4-H Dairy Bar at both county fair and Empire Farm Days. This groups works in a true youth -adult partnership.
Seneca County 4-H Teen Council
The Seneca County 4-H Teen Council currently has 20 active members. We do a lot of community service and we are relied upon to do many jobs throughout the 4-H year. Teen council members help out with many CCE functions such as fair week, Santa's workshop and the annual end of year awards ceremony. This year the group has been responsible for organizing the yearly fashion revue, talent show, and providing the refreshments at the NYS Grape Growers Convention. We also participate in cultural exchanges with other states. We recently have been to Arkansas and last summer the Arkansas 4-Her's came here. Our current teens are fundraising for a teen group cultural trip with the destination yet to be determined. They meet on the 1st Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8PM at the Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension office in Waterloo.
